[What the hell is going on with this place, Damian Wayne would like to know. He appreciates the fact they didn't eat the chickens--personally--even if they were a good source of momentary food.
Good job, guys.
He also appreciates they didn't eat the weirdeer, but for the reason of not being stupid rather than wasting a reliable food source.]
[ dextera… kind of hopes not. it’s dangerous there for any number of reasons, though the edges of it are safe enough. they’ve even found clean water in some of the springs, but the deeper one goes, the more difficult the path. ]
[ the bogeyman… it is ridiculous, maybe, but dextera is just so used to it all by now that he didn’t bat an eye at the quest. the talking furniture was a strong start. ]
A wives' tale. Adults tell children about the Bogeyman to scare them into having good behavior. It looks different depending on what society is describing it. In some cultures, it's a woman, a hag. The Bogeyman kidnaps naughty children, sometimes using a sack, sometimes a trident or pitchfork, sometimes just with its hands.
I don't know if that is what's in the forest, but I'm going to find out.
[ naughty children… if that’s what it’s targeting, isn’t it a little out of place? there are plenty of teens here, but hardly any kids. in fact, isn’t damian nearly the only one? ]
from the way he talks, he certainly seems capable—maybe even more capable than dextera—but the forest is tricky in ways that are impossible to describe. ]
I think the forest is alive. Stealth may not help you when you’re walking within it.
Unfortunately, there were multitudes of partially autonomous clay warriors it could summon. They did its bidding. It could also control various parts of the planet--fauna, flora.
I assumed the town and the forest were the same. All of it serving a collective consciousness regardless whether or not that happened to be #FFFFFF.
The spider-woman that I got the potion from was put here for a purpose, I think. The creatures from quests are focused on harming us, for whatever reason.
That's something we'd have to ask #FFFFFF. If we could.
This place feels like a pocket dimension designed to replicate being in a story book, one without color. Everything revolves around themes of fairy tales and folklore. It's too convenient not to at least be close to the mark.
We don't have enough information yet to verify what this place is or why it's here.
We did theorize before you got here that #FFFFFF was a god, or someone who wanted to be one, but a storyteller is just as close for the people in a story, isn’t it?

Spideer.
I'll talk to Caramia. Do you know the hex code?

I should have spoken to the deer when I had the chance, but it didn’t occur to me until now. I’m sorry.
[ because he’s just sorry for things! ]

[Maybe.]

Really? How much do you know about him?

But the quest can't be completed without a Red.
[It's true. Damian is one of the closest to being a child, even if he's technically a teen. But he thinks he's a grown man? It's fine.]

I'm not afraid. I've fought a sentient world before.

[ that’s… something, for sure. ]

A planet really. A planet with one consciousness. It could devour other worlds, and it had consumed one I had been transported to with an associate.
[Just say Jon is your friend, you jackass.
No.]

I’m glad you and your “associate” made it out all right, but even so, you should be careful.

So we're in a game run by a game master.
We're in a storybook.

...but why?
