I think the forest is alive. Stealth may not help you when you’re walking within it.
Unfortunately, there were multitudes of partially autonomous clay warriors it could summon. They did its bidding. It could also control various parts of the planet--fauna, flora.
I assumed the town and the forest were the same. All of it serving a collective consciousness regardless whether or not that happened to be #FFFFFF.
The spider-woman that I got the potion from was put here for a purpose, I think. The creatures from quests are focused on harming us, for whatever reason.

This place feels like a pocket dimension designed to replicate being in a story book, one without color. Everything revolves around themes of fairy tales and folklore. It's too convenient not to at least be close to the mark.
