[ the purification of venom and things—dextera thinks he can do that. he can always help guren mediate the effects, if guren would let him, but guren never invites him along on his most dangerous journeys. ]
I’m experienced.
[ that’s what he’s angling for now, at least. ]
The Meta-Beings… those monsters… do the same things.
I should be, too. Even if I was trained more for things like truth serums, there were a number of toxins I learned to resist. On top of that, I know spellcraft... basic magic, spells, how to create protective seals. None of that works.
[It's frustrating, in a way. But he's letting that show too much, and he waves it off.]
I guess it's different when a monster is doing it compared to a human.
[ dextera knows it’s frustrating, but it’s also something that can’t be changed—unless guren goes out and tries to make himself immune to all of it, and dextera wouldn’t let him get away with that. ]
[Maybe he should have asked Dextera to come with him. Maybe he really was thinking of the bogeyman when he shouldn't have been. He doesn't know, and he doesn't want to think of it again. It's his fault for bringing it up.]
But next time, I'll try to remember that. You can yell at me if I don't.
[ the bogeyman will probably haunt the both of them for a long time. dextera is guilty for dying, even now—even though they’ve both since learned that death isn’t permanent here. it hurt guren. that’s enough to make him never want to die again. ]
[ GUREN, don’t call him out like this! dextera doesn’t have use of his hands to defend himself, since he’s trying to adjust on the bed, right up until he just crashes onto his back. it’s comfortable, but this is leliel’s bed, so he never really uses it himself. ]
[ guren can’t point out what a sore loser dextera is if dextera doesn’t lose. problem solved—except guren is also a sore loser, and the likelihood of them bickering about it (as much as they ever bicker about anything, anyway) is almost a full one hundred percent if dextera even thinks about pointing it out. ]
He’s already leaning over him, but now he places his palm flat next to Dextera’s face, leaning down so close they’re almost touching in so many spots. He’s aiming to be intimidating, at least a little. Maybe attractive, too. He’s like that. ]
[ guren is definitely attractive, but intimidating… maybe it would be more effective if dextera didn’t already know all of guren’s tricks like this. he places one hand on guren’s chest, lightly and playfully pushing him away. with his other hand, he signs, though the angle probably means guren will get more from reading dextera’s lips. ]
[ He says that with a grin, snatching the hand that was pushing him back and pinning it aside so he can rest his weight over him and kiss his jaw. Hmmm. ]
I’m too tired to play right now. My mind’s a mess, so I’ll just have to prove you wrong later.
[ it’s not a good thing that guren has too much on his mind to play, but isn’t it oddly a little victory that guren is admitting it?
all these new arrivals and everything else must have him in a tizzy. dextera knows it. even if they can’t play chess now, dextera takes guren’s admission in stride and kisses him back, on the corner of his mouth. ]
Then… rest here. With me.
[ no leliel is a rare setup, so guren should take advantage. ]
[ it’s all rare, isn’t it? An admission, no chicken, being in Dextera’s room in a position like this. Guren lets go of his wrist even if he doesn’t want to, humming at that request. ]
[Repeated in a mutter, but he's not as exasperated as he looks. Watch, he's going to end up the first one asleep just because he said he didn't feel like resting.
Still, for now, he ducks down and kisses him. But it's a sweet, chaste thing on the lips, and then he's rolling onto his back again.]

So let me help.

…I can’t yell.
[ thanks ]

[Playfully jabbing. He can sign Very Aggressively!! It's the same thing.
But, it's back to being somewhat lighter with this, so he'll take it, stretching his legs a bit over the side of the bed.]

dextera isn’t really in the mood to get offended by that, though, and so he takes the lull in conversation, in tone, to come join guren on the bed. ]
I’m… a gracious loser.
[ is he, though ]
no subject
[He spits out that laugh, really, it's very rude. But he feels safe on this bed, even with Dextera joining him.]
Gracious isn't the word I'd use at all. You're a completely different person. You practically turn red!

I don’t!

[Guren is half leaning over him already, grinning down at his flustered face.]
Next time, I'm going to point it out, and you're going to pout at me even more than usual.

[ honestly, they could just lie here together and dextera would be more than content with it. ]

Beats me.
